Scary

If you are afraid of heights, the 80m long suspension bridge at the Lake Eland Game Reserve at the Oribi Gorge in southern Kwazulu Natal Province will have you trembling in your boots!

We’re participating in the online adventure travel and photography magazine LetsBeWild.com‘s Wild Weekly Photo Challenge for bloggers. This week’s challenge was “Scary“ and we are thrilled to have received another honorable mention for our entry!

i love it!!!! i would walk it if no one else was walking it at the same time. you get that ripple effect.
for years i crossed a river via suspension bridgei during the rainy season in costa rica. i loved the springy happy feeling. a few friends did not like it at all and preferred to wade the river if it wasn’t too high.

great photo and perfect for this challenge!

Most of what we fear is all in our minds; we think of what might happen, which rarely happens!

adjusting to the ‘spring spring’ of the bridge should take a minute or so, and just like riding a bicycle, we get more confident with practice!

        i love your post!

You are absolutely right – it is about having the guts to take those first couple of steps. But I’d rather be charged by a whole herd of elephants (and I have!). I tip my hat to you! And thank you again for liking our entry!

We have to admit Francine, our thoughts exactly! The fact that Marilize was 5 months pregnant at the time was a useful excuse… The bridge is very sturdy and undoubtedly safe, but boy oh boy is it high above the gorge!
