We have a very basic trail camera that we set up for a few days along a quiet portion of the fenceline at Satara Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park, while we were visiting there over Christmas and New Year. It was quite fun flicking through the photos every day and seeing the variety of wildlife that come so close to camp, especially at night!

All the hyena shots were just of their bums – they never walked slow enough!

So fascinating to see just how much activity was going on at night outside whilst you were all safely tucked up in bed. 🙂 I wouldn’t be going for a midnight stroll with a lioness and her cubs out there. 😯

That would be a wise decision, Sylvia. Lions’ disposition towards humans on foot are quite different between day and night. By day they are wary of us, by night we’re on the menu!

It’s not an animal that is easily seen, so I was very happy to see what the camera trap delivered!

You caught some nighttime action. 😉. I imagine it was fun each morning to see what you’d “caught.”

You are so right, Janet. We’re always curious to see what goes on outside our tent while we sleep. Now we have a pretty good idea…

Thanks Siobhan – I love our little unmanned trail cam for the glimpses it provides into especially the nocturnal world.

That’s a good way to know who’s lurking around your camp at night. 😳
