Satara Summer 2021 – 14 December

It’s the summer holidays in South Africa and we find ourselves back at Satara, in the Kruger National Park. We encountered these Painted Wolves, or African Wild Dogs, on the road heading into the Park from Orpen Gate today. These are all Joubert’s photographs.

Seems there are two packs of wild dogs frequenting the H7 between Orpen and Satara, one each nearer either camp. Great that it seems their numbers are increasing here in Kruger, and wonderful for us visitors to get to see them more frequently!

It is good news that the wild dog numbers are increasing.
We were lucky enough to see members of both packs along that road in one morning. Members of the pack closer to Orpen were having a wonderful game with the remains of a recent kill. Not great for photo opportunities due to intervening bush but a lot of fun to watch all the activity.
