One of the most wonderful experiences one could hope to have in the Addo Elephant National Park is to sit at a waterhole while a herd of elephants arrive, often passing so close to your vehicle that it will take your breath away.

You have really captured the majesty of those elephant processions. I thoroughly enjoyed your series and photos recording your visit to Addo. Sorry I am really behind in my blog reading, but its nice to be able to review each day of your visit in one sitting!
We’re so grateful to you for spending so much of your time here with us, Carol!
🙂
SO massive! I’m trying to just imagine what it must have been like to be there in person! And …. to imagine the sound of their ponderous feet all at once! Just wonderful of you to share them with us all.
It was amazing, and something you really must come experience for yourself if you ever get the chance. You’ll be interested to know that elephants’ feet are cushioned and when they’re just walking casually their steps does not make any more noticeable a noise than a human’s do!
Amazing!
Wow, this indeed would be quite a sight to see!
A sight not easily forgotten, Shikha.
What a precious opportunity for you to photograph a herd of pachyderms! Thank you, D. 🙂
I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments, thanks H.J!
How wonderful!

In every way imaginable, Janet!
The actions of and interactions between elephants are endlessly interesting to observe.
That’s so true, Anne, and no place better to do that than at Addo!
Such wonderful animals.
No denying that, Anne. Being this close to them is a wonderful privilege.
Cannot wipe the smile off my face!
When I find the genie’s lamp I am definitely going to wish that you come visit Addo Elephant National Park, Lois. You’ll be in seventh heaven surrounded by elephants, I am sure.
I know I would, Dries! Find that lamp!! 😊
Wow
An experience to remember for a lifetime
