After five wonderful days of searching for predators at Satara we’ve now made our way to the Kruger’s Mopani Rest Camp, where our focus shifts to finding the rare antelope, like this roan antelope seen on the S50!

Dis fantasties om die bok te sien!
Ons was baie, baie opgewonde!
Kan dit net dink!
Wonderlik,Dries!
Nice! I saw a lot of them at Nyika in Malawi but none anywhere else. What about sable at Kruger, have you seen many of them Dries?
Thanks Michael! It’s been several years since we saw sable in Kruger, though we missed a herd by just a minute or two on Tuesday near Tshokwane! They normally stay on the more densely vegetated western side of the Park, which isn’t as well traversed by roads as the basalt plains on the eastern side, making sightings very special indeed!
Love the facial markings. 🙂
Makes me think of Zorro!
So lucky! I have never seen one, must go back; haha.
Searching for the rare antelope here at Mopani is a great excuse to return to Kruger, Kelly!
lovely post and pic
Thank you Mukul.
