This female baboon has been spending the last couple of minutes foraging around the chalets here at Giant’s Castle Resort, and the rooftops make excellent vantage points from where to plan her next kitchen raid…

She’s much more bold than the rest of the troop that foraged around the camp today, and seems to be an “old hand”. Not stressed at all with all the human attention.

Is it true that monkeys are as common nuisance in Africa as reindeers are in Lapland?

Depends on how one regards them. We have troops of vervet monkeys on friendly terms with all of our family, and provided one doesn’t leave temptation around they are not a nuisance

They’re very clever animals NiinaMaria, and quickly learn that humans and their dwellings are a good source of nutrition if people don’t give some thought to how they store and dispose of their food. Humans cause the problem, but eventually the monkeys and baboons pay the price.
I’m intrigued by your comparison to reindeer in Lapland and I’d love to know what they get up to there?
