Finding a little bat in a corner of a kitchen at Shingwedzi Rest Camp, was definitely an unexpected, but not unwelcome, surprise.

Cute, but I’ve been scared of bats since they used to swoop by our hair when I was a teen and out at night where I used to live near a park with a bunch of trees. We figured that’s where that belief that bats try to get in your hair came from. They were trying to eat all the mosquitos that were being attracted to us!

I’m more scared of the mosquitoes than the bats 😉

Bats are so cool. Unfortunately, a fungal infection is decimating a huge population of this gentle mammal. I hope they find a cure. they are important to us, besides being so …. cool!

That’s aweful Kanzensakura! Earth would be a much different place without bats 😦

Yes, it would. You may want to google white nose fungus. When i first read about this a couple of years ago, it truly caused me to weep. I don’t see the clouds of them at dusk the way I used to and it causes me grief.
