The blotches, and the lines between them, on a giraffe’s hide are as unique as human fingerprints. These photographs were taken during our recent trip to the North of the Kruger National Park.

“From lines to patterns” is this week’s photo challenge theme

Dag se swaer!! Ek het die onderste foto geleen! Dankie… 😉

Thank you Ledrakenoir!
I just found out that different giraffe species have different types of splotches
Thanks for visiting Penne! Yes indeed, there’s considerable regional variation in giraffe markings; giraffe from East Africa for instance have quite different coats than ours here in South Africa!
Such beautiful creatures! Great choice for the challenge. 🙂
Thank you for visiting us again and leaving us such a kind comment!
great patters 🙂
Thank you very much Amar!
Cool patches!
They so are Saba-Thambi!
Too cute to see his tongue sticking out. Gosh what a gorgeous pattern.
Thank you very much Seeker!
I adore the last one. He (she) is so cute.
Looks like a very cool youngster with his spiky hairstyle, doesn’t he?
Thanks for stopping by T S C!
As you might have noticed: I love giraffes! Beautiful animals in all their aspects; the way they walk, eat and look. More importantly, they are around nearly everywhere 🙂
Maurice
They always appear so gentle and harmless Maurice, and we love them for it, but this video shows a totally different side of them: http://www.news24.com/Travel/Multimedia/Giraffe-attacks-cyclist-20130904
Only seen a photo of this, so thanks for the vid! We met a bull blocking the road near the Rabelais water hole about a month ago, giving us such a stare we decided to wait instead of driving past. This is the first time I remember we didn’t want to get near a giraffe
Wow Maurice!
