I’ve wonderful childhood memories of Swartvlei Strand (Beach), in the Wilderness section of the Garden Route National Park, near the town of Sedgefield in South Africa’s Western Cape Province. The unique rock formation some distance from the beach has always been fascinating to me, resembling a male lion lying down, looking out over the Indian Ocean.
We’re participating in the online adventure travel and photography magazine LetsBeWild.com‘s Wild Weekly Photo Challenge for bloggers. This week’s challenge is “The Beach“
Beautiful landscape and I love the lion.

It’s a cold an miserably overcast morning here in Pretoria, and we were hoping to braai a chicken for Sunday lunch – we’ll probably still go ahead with that anyway (you know Afrikaners and their braais hey Joey!). Would love to have been on the beach at Swartvlei now.
Hope you’re having a great weekend too!

It’s sunny here this morning De Wet family, but the early hours of this morning it was another storm. Huge storms rumbled through, rain, lightning, wind. It also brought more croaking frogs. We’ve just spent days trying to get rid of the tadpoles from the last rain that have infested both fish ponds (they get in the filters and clog pump impellers) and our fish don’t eat them. So I guess we’ll be doing much of the same again today. Braai lekker. I hope the weather cooperates for you. I’ll send some sunshine from Florida as we have an abundance of it right now.

We are very lucky to still have large stretches of coastline that’s untouched by development Scrapydo!
