Today marks the tenth anniversary of de Wets Wild‘s “birth”.
We’re grateful for the very many friends we made along the way and for all your kindness and encouragement. Thank you.
What better way to celebrate this milestone than taking a quick tour through the wild places of the beautiful country that inspired this blog to begin with!?

What a fabulous overview – such incredible diversity all in one country! Your gallery of stunning photos does it proud. And congratulations on ten years of blogging and on promoting our wonderful conservation areas and sharing your joy and appreciation of all of nature from the smallest to the largest.
Thanks for all your support along the way, Carol!
It is always a pleasure to read your posts and enjoy your wonderful photos.
Thank you very much, Carol
Congratulations, Marilize! 🎉 Thanks for sharing your corner of the world with us.
Thanks very much, Siobhan!
Congratulations! You and Joubert make quite the wildlife photography team. I always enjoy my virtual visits to your part of the world.
And we enjoy having you along, John. Thank you!
Wow!! Spectacular country!
Few can compare!
I scrolled through the photos three times! That zig-zag design of the waterfall image is really nice. The header image, stunning. So many amazing vistas, memories, immersions in wrap-around nature!
Seems like yesterday at times; you have shown us lovely facets of the best of your world. The bonus has been watching Joubert as his boots get a bit bigger each year, and he steps into his own destiny. The owl, fly fishing – so many amazing moments and travels.
Here in Ecuador we have the Yellow-billed Pintail, quite rare on ‘my’ side of the country, but a few managed to drop in to be counted last year.
As far as unique species, I think that you win hands down! We don’t have lions.. or zebras.. or giraffes, etc etc….
May we still be swapping stories in another ten years! Joubert will probably be a top photographer for National Geographic!
I really hope so, Lisa, on all counts!
Thanks for all your support and encouragement over the years!
Happy anniversary! Awesome photos of an amazing place. Keep it up!
Thanks a lot, Kelly!
Congratulations! I wish you the best, my friend. You are doing all the right thing to help Mother Nature and I’m proud of it. Today, you are showing so many wonderful places to demonstrate how vast is the African territory and how beautiful it is. Let’s keep it that way, forever! Thank you. 🙂
Thanks a lot, H.J. This really is a special country with special places and people and we are richly blessed to be here.

Ek hoop ons gaan sommer nog saam met julle op baie toere gaan – dankie dat julle my soveel leer van my eie land en sy diere!
Baie dankie, Corna. Ek dink nie ons sal ooit by al die land se mooi plekke uitkom nie, maar ons gaan ons bes probeer! Swartbergpas is n pragtige pad, maar ek dink my senuwees sou aan nerwe gewees het in reenweer!
I don’t know how long I have journeyed with you, but I am enjoying every step of the way! Well done to you all – after all, even such wonderful photographers need to be fed and nurtured along the way 🙂
