It’s the fifth day of our 2020 Summertide Ramble, and we’ve moved again – this time about 200km due east to the Wilderness section of the Garden Route National Park, where our cosy log cottage in the Ebb-and-Flow Rest Camp has a lovely (if overcast and rather chilly at the moment) view over the wetlands of the Serpentine River just before its confluence with the Touw River.

It looks like a great place for a peaceful retreat.
And it is, Siobhan. A favourite destination for many South Africans at this time of year.
Hoe verlang ek nou na my kinderdae! Die Wilderness is so mooi!
DIt lyk na so n heilsame omgewing om in groot te word, Aletta!
Ag, dit was hemels!
Another stunning park. Great for bird watching too.
That’s very true, Helen, Even in the soaking rain we’re ticking one species after the other!
Looks like a good place to relax . Pretty and serene (Other than the weaver birds…) 🙂
Our national parks are great to relax, H.J. I’m sure yours are too?
The sound of the thousands of weavers is beautiful!
Ek kom nou eers by!
This brings back happy memories – you certainly are getting around quickly!
The time sure is flying, Anne! We still have two weeks and 4 destinations, 3 of which are national parks, remaining after Wilderness.
Quite the view!

I wish I could add the sound effects of thousands of weaver birds nesting among the reeds into the picture too!
