We really had mixed feelings about having to leave early. In the end we decided to leave as soon as possible so that when we return we can make the most of it for as long as possible!
Such incredible views! I feel like you probably have described those plateau risers in the background on the top photo, but if so, I have forgotten. Is there a name for that formation or that particular spot?
Those are the foothills of the Drakensberg, our biggest mountain range, as seen from Mahai in the Royal Natal National Park; certainly one of our scenically most splendid reserves (difficult in a country as blessed with beauty as South Africa is!)
Thank you Anne. We also thought getting out of the city was the best option in our particular circumstances, having one diabetic and one asthmatic de Wet in the fold.
Stunning! I hope the storm lived up to expectations!! I really MISS real thunderstorms!!
There’s almost nothing that can compare to an African thunderstorm, is there AJ!?
No… one of my life’s dreams is to capture a storm on camera… net vir die wis en die onwis!!
Such a beautiful spot. It must have been hard to leave to go back home for the lockdown period. Keep safe.

Let us hope that returning will be possible before too long. Keep safe.

Wonderful….thanks for this info. I’m always curious to see if my family who have been to South Africa are familiar with the places you write about ☺️
I hope they are, and just beam with smiles and happy memories when they see a familiar scene! We’re going to need them to visit us again soon.
Fresh air, exercise and sunshine – preferably in a beautiful place. You are doing the right thing.

Absoluut, Tina – vir n rukkie selfs kan mens vergeet hoeveel fout daar deesdae in die wêreld is.
