We fled to the Mountains

Well, not really – our bookings were made long before the current health crisis and we opted not to cancel, figuring that it is nice to know that for a while at least we can breathe the fresh mountain air of the Royal Natal National Park again. So here we are.

I’d say that’s a great place to practice “social distancing”. I haven’t heard much on the news about the effects of COVID-19 in the African continent. Stay safe, my friend.

So far we have 270+ confirmed cases here in South Africa, John, and by far the most of those were imported from Europe. Thankfully no deaths yet. Our government acted quicker than many ohers to try and prevent local infections which is commendable and will save many lives.
Thank you for your kind blessing on our health – of course we pray for your safety and health as well.

That looks wild and restful all at the same time, Dries. Enjoy yourself, but if you can, keep a close eye on developments. You may find yourself locked out from returning home. In Australia, interstate travel is effectively banned.

Thanks, Tracy. With two-thirds of our family in “higher risk” categories perhaps being holed up far away from the city would be the best for us! Wishing you and your famly well during the coming weeks and months.

That was our thinking as well, Deb, with 2 out of the 3 of us being in “higher risk” categories it just seemed so much safer far away from the cities. We pray you, your husband, father and all the rest of your family too will remain safe and healthy through this ordeal.

Thank you, Dries. I just saw that coronavirus cases in South Africa have increased quite a bit, and the same is happening here, although we live “in the middle of nowhere” and are relatively safer. We will be thinking of and praying for you all.
