Magnificent shot, Dries, but receding water sources are always alarming even if elephants are ever the great water diviners. I think we must have been getting everyone’s rain here in the UK.
Being our dry season now this will be the norm until the rains come again from October / November, Tish. And as you say, elephants are great at finding hidden watersources and the wells they dig sustain so many other animals through the dry months.
At this stage I don’t think there’s reason for worry yet, Liz – both the Shingwedzi and Mphongolo in this area still has quite a number of fairly big waterholes and the elephants are digging wells with ease. The vegetation is looking healthy and the general game in great condition.
