World Wildlife Day 2019

What better way to celebrate World Wildlife Day than to look back at the 301 species of South African wildlife we featured here at de Wets Wild over the years?

Click on the first image, scroll through the gallery and by the end of it you are sure to believe, as we do, that South Africa is a treasure chest of beautiful creatures that you absolutely have to visit, and fully deserving of its reputation as one of the ten most biodiverse countries on the planet!

You are very kind, thank you Hien!
At this point there’s still around 400 more species-posts lying in draft form waiting for their chance to be featured, so many more years left of celebrating South Africa’s wildlife here at de Wets Wild.

Awesome! It must have taken many pleasurable hours looking back through your incredible array of photos, but likely involved many difficult decisions as to which to leave out and which to include! Thanks for sharing. Indeed we have so much to celebrate and to protect too.

Thanks, Carol! This post really was a year in the making, and by the time it was ready to publish I couldn’t believe that we’ve done special posts about 301 kinds of South African wildlife already – and there’s still so many left to feature! What a special country we live in!
