Merry Christmas, Everyone! We had a lovely summer Christmas Day out in nature here at Wilderness. We hope that, if you celebrate the holiday, that you had a blessed time with friends and family too wherever you are.

I am impressed how many species of birds you find on your treks. Your patience and vision far exceed my abilities. I wonder how many species in this gallery are local only to your continent.
South Africa is home to about 10% of all the kinds of birds in the world, John – we are indeed very fortunate in that sense. Many of them occur here and nowhere else. It is fascinating to me that some birds – and even insects – have colonized almost the whole planet!
Central America is also a haven for unusual bird species. We saw many in Costa Rica, but I must say, the most interesting species I’ve seen were on our visit to your country.
Ground Hornbill with its long lashes right at the top of that list, John?
That’s right!
Fantastiese foto van die Knysnaloerie!
Baie dankie, Tannie Frannie!
What a peaceful place to celebrate Christmas!
We thought so too, Anne. Wonderful weather and families spending time in the great outdoors – a beautiful summer Christmas!
Best wishes to you and your family, Dries. Beautiful photos.
Thank you very much, Tracy, on both counts! And of course we wish you everything of the best for the new year too!
Your lots and comments always brighten my day. Blogging friends like you are a blessing all year. Merry Christmas to the three of you!
I can say the same about you, Janet! I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and that 2025 will be a year in which you will be blessed beyond every expectation.
Lekker saam gekuier, dankie.
Altyd lekker wanneer jy n draai maak, Ineke!
