Hannes, Irving and I are still having a wonderful time with our guests here at Satara in the Kruger National Park – so much so that I totally forgot to post a blog update last night, so today’s covers 2 days!
We spent most of yesterday exploring the area between Satara and Tshokwane, and today between Satara and Letaba. Over the two days we’ve seen all of the famed “Big 5” as well as many other interesting animals, birds and plants.

I missed this post until today when it appeared as a related post on your post about the lions that I was rereading. Now, I’ll have to go back and see what other posts I missed. >grin<
Your photos of the birds are always excellent. So many of my bird photos were out of focus, mostly due to the fact that I was still learning the lens and camera combination I brought.
Luckily we saw so many birds, John, that I am sure you still came away with a handsome crop of bird images (starting with penguins!)
That is true, I’ll be planning a post focusing on the birds we saw.
I especially enjoyed the photo of the windblown lilac roller… Lovely ruffled look 😉! And the Hornbill snacking is quite a capture – amazing timing.
Thanks a lot, Carol! The Kruger Park is so rich in birdlife – you’d have a wonderful time there!
Pragtige foto’s Dries!
Baie dankie, Aletta!
The snackng ground hornbill is a wonderful shot!
Thank you, Anne – the photographers on the vehicle were working hard for a shot like that, so I was more than a bit chuffed when I got one too!
The Lilac breasted Roller and the baby elephant–I am there with you in spirit, Dries!
Was nice to have a you along, Lois, and lots more to come!
