The Mokala National Park is a bird watcher’s paradise, being populated by large numbers of a wide variety of bird species indigenous to the various habitats that make up the reserve. This is just a small portion of the many kinds of birds we ticked off during our visit in June – and as winter is by no means the best season for finding birds you can just imagine what a spectacle it must be during summer!

A flurry of beautiful birds! It is good to see so many in your postcard gallery 🙂
Is the urge to go to Mokala being fed still, Anne?
Indeed it is 🙂 🙂

Sadly no dodos, Gavin! 😀
Mooi verskeidenheid voëls. Haai Volstruis met jou lang lang nek, kan jy hom nog langer rek… Onthou jy die gediggie?
Watter lekker herinneringe maak jy nou wakker, Ineke!
Dis hoe ek ook voel. Ek glo nie vandag se kinders doen meer sulke lekker gediggies nie. Dis hoe ons mos maar geleer het om Afrikaans te praat en te gebruik.
Look at that Southern Masked Weaver! Bad day, buddy? My little favorite bird–pretty little one whose name eludes me now–is not here. Oh, Dries–a cute little blue bird, I think. Bee eater…something like that? Anyway, this is a pretty fantastic place–bird watcher’s paradise, indeed!
It’s the little Blue Waxbill that you love so much, Lois!
I wanted to post a picture for you here but this darned WordPress block thing thwarts me at every turn…

Waxbill! Yes, thank you so much, Dries!
This is a fantastic collection of bird photos. Beautiful 😍
Thank you very much, Anne. What a blessing to visit a place that’s so full of life!
