Sadly, our month in the Kruger Park has come to an end and we are back home in Pretoria this evening. After breaking up camp and packing up, we had only a two-hour drive to the Orpen Gate left of our Satara Summer. Still, Kruger had one very unusual sighting up her sleeve for us – a spotted hyena walking straight past a cheetah as if it wasn’t even there, less than a kilometer from the Park’s gate!
Glory to God for blessing us with an amazing Christmas holiday and for keeping us safe on our travels.
We’re taking it easy this evening but will soon get to all the unanswered but deeply appreciated comments!

Phew… I have some catching up to do still (as usual) but I sort of feel sad that it’s already over!!

Your family has certainly had an amazing month in Kruger, beautifully reproduced in your daily posts. That Leopard/Hyena non-interaction sums it all up – Kruger is full of surprises just waiting to be discovered! Now when can we expect that “Best of Kruger” book to be published?
I doubt I will ever know enough about the Kruger and its wildlife to do it justice in a book, Don. It is such an amazing place. I’ve been visiting so often, stayed so many nights there, driven thousands upon thousands of kilometers on its roads, and yet I still haven’t had my fill! I bet you feel the same way?

Wat n heerlike vier weke was dit nie! Bly jul is weer veilig tuis in die alledaagse lewe. Wat n aanpassing om weer in roetine te kom. Geniet die res van die vakansie. Wanneer begin skole daar? Ons begin eers die 3e Feb. Ons het egter eers die 19e Des gesluit.
Dit was n ongelooflike tyd, Ineke, en verby in n oogwink!
Ek is vandag al weer terug op kantoor, Marilize begin weer oor n week en die skole open dan die 15de Januarie hier by ons. Almal amper terug in die hok.
Ai en dan daarna vlieg die jaar verder in vol spoed. Geniet die laaste paar dae met almal nog tuis.
There was a movie called “The Incredible Journey” and I think your month could go by that title as well. The cheetah-heyna photo is quite something and a wonderful way to end your time. God has indeed richly blessed you with the opportunity not only to experience His magnificent creation but to share it with the rest of us who don’t live in or near that environment. What a joy!

What a blessing to spend a month in Kruger, brings so much perspective about the daily rat race in the city.
A whole month in the Kruger! You’re going to need debriefing and reprogramming to return to the human world. But what a fabulous sojourn you and your family have had, Dries. And that final sighting. Breathtaking. Happy 2020.

You are spot-on about the difficulty adjusting back into “normal” life. Even just the cacophony of sounds and the amount of light at night in the city is overwhelming!!! We’ve realised again just how “un-normal” the city life actually is!
Best wishes with the adjustment, though I guess your instinct is to rebel!
