After nine-and-a-half wonderful days at Shingwedzi in the Kruger National Park we’re back home in Pretoria for a day or two, before heading off on the next leg of our winter holidays. We’ll soon be sharing lots of wonderful wildlife encounters from our days in Shingwedzi with you, but herewith so long a gallery of highlights – These photos were all taken by Joubert!

Great gallery – it must be quite a thrill for you all… a whole gallery of Joubert’s photos!
Well done young man… soon you’ll be taking over the blog… but don’t forget to give your old pappy a look-in too!!
👍😉📷🐘😃😁
Thanks AJ! It’s great to share the photography hobby and a love for the outdoors with our boy!
Weereens pragtig! Joubert raak nou ‘n kranige fotograaf!
Baie dankie, Dina. Dis so lekker om al ons stokperdjies so saam te kan geniet!
I admire the way so many of these photos capture so much expressiveness from the animals and birds – great work Joubert.
The little guy has a real knack for photographs (and I know I am terribly biased too!)
😀
You may be biased but you are right! He really does have a real feel for his subjects and a good eye.
Thanks you very much, Carol!
Beautiful, which tree is in the background ?
Thanks, Lakshmi – unfortunately I don’t know which tree on which picture you’re referring to?
When I see your page, in the background I can see the leaves of a tree. I was wondering what tree that was.
Ah! That’s the leaves of the Knob-thorn, Lakshmi.
Amazing and very beautiful pictures.😊
Thank you very much, John – I will pass your congratulations to little Joubert!
Joubert is a wonderful photographer! The photos are stunning!
Thank you so much, Deb – he’d be thrilled to read your comment!
Joubert het ‘n goeie oog!
Baie dankie, Tina – ons stem saam!
Wow! Makes me want to visit this wonderful place! A friend of mine is on her second African trip right now so I’m seeing lots of your continent vicariously!
I’m still holding out hope that you’ll come see it all for yourself here in South Africa, John, and perhaps you will never want to go back home!
Joubert, you are the greatest!
You’ll make his day with your kind comment, thanks Hien!
Joubert–wonderful photos! The hippo pod–why do I just love that one?!
Thank you very much, Lois – the hippos are a favourite of ours too!
Great set of elephant shots!
And Northern Kruger has very many of them – an absolute thrill to see so many so clearly and up-close!
Fantastic photos, Dries. Love them all, but especially the Hippo pod and the Ellies. 🙂
Thank you very much, Sylvia – Joubert is really becoming quite accomplished behind the lens, if I may say so myself!
Wonderful photos there, Joubert. All so good that I can’t pick a favourite.
Ah, thank you so much Tracy!
Very welcome.
Thank you for sharing, it was exciting to “join along” for some moments of this trip. I am happy you could all enjoy it together as a family, and Joubert takes wonderful photographs 🙂
Best wishes,
Takami
Glad you could come along, Takami, and Joubert will be thrilled to receive your comment about his photos!
I’m honored if he is happy😃 And best wishes to your wife too!
I’ll look forward to your other posts of course, but this is a nice wrap-up. A bit hard to choose a favorite photo though.
It was hard for us too, so there’s going to be many, many more pictures on the way!
Cool!
The Saddle-billed stork is my favourite – an unusual take on one.
We were very lucky to find a very habituated pair along the causeway just behind Shingwedzi – I’ve never before been so close to a wild saddle-billed stork, never mind a pair!
