If you thought we were a little quiet the last few days, you’d be right. We spent the Heritage Day long weekend enjoying our natural heritage and the company of good friends at Marakele National Park. Here’s just a little sample of some of what we experienced, with a promise of more to come later in the week.

And as for the Ostrich…it stuck its neck under under the fence at the Baltimore Zoo and bit off the back of the tennis shoe of an unsuspecting youngster who happened to be me when I was a little girl…lesson learned, never turn your back on one of these birds!
Not many people will be able to top your ostrich story, Kathy! The things they’ll swallow is mind-boggling.

So good photos. Nature looks wonderful there. 🙂 I think the picture on the giant spider is interesting, is it poisonous?
I’m not an expert on spiders my any means, John, but I don’t think this particular species is venomous – I think it uses brute strength to overpower its victims.
