Addo Elephant National Park must be one of South Africa’s most diverse wild places, a fact really brought home as the plane flew over the Park on our way back to Johannesburg. What follows is just a selection of photos taken on a 24-hour working visit to Addo last week!
(I’ve shared pictures of Addo’s elephants and lions in seperate posts)
Addo Elephant National Park, managed by South African National Parks, is located in South Africa’s Eastern Cape Province, within easy reach of the city of Port Elizabeth’s modern airport along the recently upgraded N2 highway.

Reblogged this on Roaring Reservations.
Wonderful park and whoa – the photos show the diversity –
Really well done!
Thanks very much! Addo’s a real gem in South Africa’s conservation crown, and has a fascinating history.
Was jare laas daar!! Dankie vir die mooi foto’s!
Dankie vir die saam toer, Aletta!
Dankie vir die lekker herhinderinge!! 😉
Ons plesier!
Sjoe, daar is darem ‘n groot verskeidenheid.
The Park looks really interesting. I will be in PE in February – is it worth visiting just as a day visitor?
Absolutely Candy! And it is so easy to reach – the southern entrance, near the small town of Colchester, is just 40km from PE’s airport along the N2-highway.
Pragtige foto’s
Baie dankie, Toortsie!
Such great photos. I really like the mud bath and the rodent. That baby elephant looks so cute and the zebra looks magnificent. I stopped trying to select my favorite photo mid-way through the gallery–they are all wonderful.
Thanks very much Lois. There’s really so many beautiful things to take photos of in Addo that you can’t miss.
