Inside Mopani Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park grows a most impressive specimen of a Baobab, which has now been selected as a nesting site by a pair of barn owls. During the day they remain well hidden, but during a night-time walkabout we were thrilled to see one of the pair pluck a thick-knee out of the air in mid-flight!

Pity you didn’t get that on camera! Some sight that must have been! 😉
All over in a flash, but will remember it for a very long time!
Those owls know an upscale neighborhood when they see one!
Certainly their neighbourhood is in high demand!
Really? I couldn’t imagine I’d think to throw stones in the holes. However, obviously, someone had thought of it. 😣
It boggles the mind that someone would visit a national park and then pelt stones into holes, doesn’t it!?
On my list of things to see before I die are Baobob trees … entirely the fault of Antoine de St Exupery and his Little Prince 🙂
Baobabs feature in so many folk stories Osyth, and really are deservant of their mythical status.
The baobab is such a fascinating tree!
They absolutely are!
Fascinating… 🙂
Thanks Drake!
