Hier is ook n inheemse duif wat nou n beskermde voël is omdat hy lekker groot en heerlik is om te eet!(Volgens tradisionele bewoners!)New Zealand pigeon/ Kereru http://www.doc.govt.nz/nature/native-animals/birds/birds-a-z/nz-pigeon-kereru/
Ons sal nog die hele aarde opvreet voor ons besef wat ons aanvang! Dankie vir die link, Ineke – ek sal meer gaan lees sodra ons terug is by die huis.
Ja daardie opvreet is beslis wat dit is. Een van ons belangrike kabinetslede het n paar gevang en in sy tas gesit. Word toe op lughawe voorgekeer mer die duiwe. Was glo n geskenk! Op end het hy hofsaak verloor. Hy het hul gejag en geskiet om saam huistoe te vat om te kook. Ook maar nie die beste voorbeeld wat hy gestel het. Hy is/was n groot bewaarder v tradisies, ha ha
Pragtige foto. Ek het gelukkig die kans gehad om hul in lewende lywe in Potties te sien. Hul is nie te volop in die Bosveld nie. Heerlik om hul so te kan sien kibbel!
En so goed gekamoefleer ne, nie maklik om te sien gewoonlik nie!
Netso, dit was toevallig dat ek die boom sien beweeg het. Bly toe doodstil staan en toe sien ek hom!
Your pigeons are so beautiful!! Ours are just dull-gray poopers.
The green pigeons are the most colourful of all our doves and pigeons by far, Joanne, the rest are much more “common” looking (and also like to poop everywhere 😀 )

Ek onthou een dag toe hierdie mooi duiwe die wildevy in ons meenthuisie se tuin kom besoek en my met hulle mooie veredos verras het.
Dit moes nou n gelukkige verassing gewees het!

Those are pigeons?! How colorful – very different from the gray and white ones we have here. Looks aggressive, though.
As quarrelsome as they are pretty, Maida! Also the most colourful of our pigeons and doves, the others are much more drably coloured.
As long as they leave you alone, that’s all that matters 😉

As soon as the one opens his mouth to “coo” the other would pounce!
