“They say that somewhere in Africa the elephants have a secret grave where they go to lie down, unburden their wrinkled grey bodies, and soar away, light spirits at the end.”
Robert McCammon

Ineke, who blogs at “I scrap 2“, kindly invited us to join in the “3 days, 3 quotes challenge”. We in turn extend an open invitation to all de Wets Wild’s friends to join in, and we look forward to the wise words you have to share!

The quote is simply beautiful, and the stark photo inspires respect for this magnificent creature. The contrast of the image of the strong beast with the gentle words of the quote create a poignant contrast.
Thank you for your very thoughtful contribution LaVagabonde!
Iconic image!
Thanks a lot Annette!
Weereens pragtig,Dries!Olifante laat my soms so hartseer voel.
Lewende monumente!
I love elephants…this is gorgeous in monochrome.
Thank you very much Jane. We love them too!
he looks so BIG
And the way he’s standing, with his ears wide open and head held high makes him seem even bigger than he is!
How very sad, touching and oh so beautiful!
Thanks Lois! We love elephants. They’ve got such character and charisma. I hope the quote communicates some of that.
