Beautiful rhinos!
They are Milka, and we so hope that the tide on rhino poaching turns soon – this morning it was reported that South Africa alone has lost almost a 1000 to poachers this year! Absolutely heart-wrenching news.
They are extremely rare, correct? How did you happen to see them… we thought they were shy (?). Anyway , you are very lucky!! Thanks for the photo!
Black rhinos are rare indeed – we were simply in the right place at the right time and very very lucky to spot them ;-). Thank you for the very kind comment!
That is a cool image of these two rhinoceros!
Thanks Amy! It was “way cooler” to spend some time with them in real life 😉
So beautiful, how fabulous to see in person.
It’s a sight we’ll never tire of PJB, and one we hope humans will be able to enjoy for many generations to come!
I would hope they will be around for a long to come, hopefully more people will come to see them and not use them for other purposes.
What a strong, dynamic pair. Wonderful.
An exhilirating encounter, that’s for sure! Thanks for paying us another visit Anna!
I think this is one of those very special locations in KZN, we spent two nights here and could have easily spent another two. They have over 100 elephant here
Ithala’s very dear to our hearts Killaval, and we try to return at least once a year. This visit the elephants have been hiding well, but perhaps we’ll get a glimpse this afternoon…
