We spent the weekend of the 13th to the 15th of September at our much loved Golden Gate Highlands National Park, in celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of its proclamation. Here’s a gallery of photographs we took during that trip, and if you’d like to know more about this magnificent piece of South Africa, have a look at our special “Celebrating Fifty Years of the Golden Gate Highlands National Park!” post.

You and your blog are a better advert for South Africa than many others put together!! Keep up your fantastic work!
Thanks AJ, that’s very high praise and we really appreciate your interest in and support of de Wets Wild very much!
It looks so beautiful….in a golden way 🙂
I love the array of wildlife.
Glad to hear that you’ve enjoyed the bit of Golden Gate that we could share with you Greenmackenzie!

Thank You for paying us another visit Sangeeta!
Lovely pictures, especially the Secretary Bird, majestic.
Thanks Maurice! We agree about the secretary bird, they’re always fascinating to watch as they stride through the grasslands looking for their prey.
A lovely sunrise picture, showing so much promise at the start of a new day. Then the golden sun behind the black cliff, lovely! It looks like a lovely place to visit.
Beautiful place Chris, a must see if you’re ever in these parts!
Love this post! Stunning sun rising photo, and the Blesbok herd is incredible. Thank you so much!
