The 3rd day of the new year was very, very hot and the animals – especially the elephants – congregated in enormous numbers around Addo’s waterholes to quench their thirst and cool off in the mud.

The Addo Elephants are alwasy entertaining.
That is absolutely true, Helen, and the fact that they’re so much more relaxed than elephants in our other parks make for wonderful viewing!

The elephant ‘rough and tumble’ photo is interesting, to say the least. That little one looks like the foot shoving him made zero impact. Pretty great photo, Dries.
You should’ve heard that little one squealing to high heaven when that bully of a youngster trapped him “under foot”, Lois – mom quickly came to his rescue!
