Earlier in October I had the immense pleasure of hosting long-time blogging friend John Steiner (of Journeys with Johnbo), his wife Lynn, John’s niece Patricia Broesder and her husband Gary on a tour of Cape Town and the Kruger National Park.
You cannot visit Cape Town and not spend some time at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, considered one of the top gardens in the world. And can there be a better time of the year than the Spring season to visit a garden of this stature!? We spent several hours enjoying the grounds before having a delicious lunch at the Moyo restaurant.
I am a fully accredited and legally registered tour guide (with all the necessary insurance, professional drivers license and first aid certification) – don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like me to arrange a guided tour of Cape Town’s natural attractions and the rest of South Africa for you as well.

The gardens were looking great. I enjoyed your photos immensely – especially the goose in the gazanias!
I was wondering whether you’ve had a chance to venture to the Harold Porter Botanical Garden near where you live now, Carol?
Not yet – we have only driven past (when we travel the fantastic Clarence Drive) on our way to Somerset West. But the Garden is on our ‘to do’ list.
I’d love to hear about it when you get around to a visit!
I really enjoy visiting botanical gardens. I was pleased to find this one on our itinerary without my suggesting it. >grin<
Thanks, again for your expertise, Dries! Though we’d hoped to take a guided tour with a docent from the garden, that tour was canceled by the garden staff. Dries, you did an excellent guidance for us, anyway.
I’m still disappointed Gary didn’t get a chance to roll down that long hill like he wanted to. Pity the garden was so busy with pedestrians by then… 😀
He’ll have to save it until next time.:-)
Right at the top of the itinerary!
Great to see Kirstenbosch looking so good.
It’s never disappointed me yet, Helen. There’s always so much to see and I always learn something new!
Ek hou so baie daarvan Om Kirstenbosch te besoek! Pragtige foto’s, Dries!
Baie dankie, Aletta. Ek glo nie daar in n meer skilderagtige yuin in die land nie.
Ek stem saam.
This must have been a real treat for your visitors!
From following John’s blog I knew he and his wife enjoy botanical gardens very much, so including Kirstenbosch in the itinerary was a must!
