While we were still visiting Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park recently I shared a sneaky photo I took of Joubert busy photographing a pair of playful warthog piglets in Mpila Camp. Now that we’re back home I can share a few more of the photos he took of their playful antics. They also tried involving a young nyala ram in their games, but he wasn’t interested in childish games.
These are all Joubert’s photos. He turned 9 in August.

My crystal ball tells me you have an award winning nature photographer on your hands!! 😉
Dis tog te mooi… ek wonder, net ‘n bietjie, of die nege jarige nie dalk wou saam speel nie?? 🙂
Ek dink nie hy sou hom twee keer laat nooi het nie! 😀
I’m glad these little guys have each other; certainly they are not the most beautiful animals I’ve ever seen. India has the same type of pig (without the husks) and they are not pretty either. I am reminded of the stories in US history about the razorback hogs that roamed the ranges.
Once fully grown warthogs are really tough animals and not to be taken lightly – those tusks can split open a lion!
Absolutely true! Maybe that is why the playful side of them is so interesting.
Your photos convey their playfulness and sense of fun so well Joubert. I love the photo of the one with the nyala.
Joubert says to tell you “Baie Dankie”, Carol!
Happy New Year!
Playful piglets! I love it!
They seem to have boundless energy in those tiny bodies!
Dis ‘n lekker belangstelling vir ‘n kind. EN sy foto’s is mooi!
Baie dankie, Tina!

😊
Hy neem al so goed fotos, de Wet.
Baie dankie, Una – natuurlik sal ek en sy Ma met jou saamstem! 😀
Mooi man, tap in pa se voetspore. Die varkies bly maar varkies.
Wat n voorreg om saam n stokperdjie te kan geniet, Ineke!
Dis so waar as wat parra manel dra.
Nice pictures! Next generation De Wets nature photographer!😊
Thanks, John! This photography hobby is a great way for a father and his son to bond!
You have set Joubert on the path of a lifelong passion that should bring him much joy – as I hope that 2019 will bring to you and your family.
Thank you for the very kind wishes, Anne! We hope that 2019 will treat you and your loved ones kindly as well.
Joubert–these are wonderful photos! You did great!
Joubert was so pleased to hear your praise, thanks Lois!
Thank you, Joubert. You’ve made me a very happy lady. Love your photos.
You should’ve seen the smile on his face when I read your comment to Joubert! Thanks, Tracy!
🙂
both cute and ugly at the same time.
That really is so, Gavin!
They have a great sense of fun. A neighbour had a tame one that loved terrorising visitors.
And there’s not much that will stop a warthog intent on terrorism!
Great!
Thanks, Sue!
