Great close up! I love the eyes. They look like gold and onyx beads! 🙂
Thanks Linda! Even a toad is beautiful, if we look deep and close enough 😉
Great shot! How big was this fat fellow? He is colorful.
Thank you Jane! He would have fitted neatly on the palm of my hand.
Yes, that is a close up
A very nice close up
Thank you very much Emily, and welcome here!
Fabulous photo! Such beautiful eyes!! And by his expression, it seems he’s been waiting a little while for you. Past curfew? 😉
Thank you Janet! Actually yes, we were late in arriving that evening, having taken part in a guided night drive through the reserve.
Awesome close up shot!
Thank you Amy!
Sies oom!! 😉
Nie n padda-fan nie, AJ?
Maar ek is!! Laat my altyd dink aan die ou Naas grappie wat ons nie hie kan deel nie! Sies oom!! 😉
I love that smiley face.
You almost expect him to start talking 😉
That is a serious close-up! Amazing details in the eyes. Lovely!
Thanks very much Inger! This toad was obviously very used to having humans pass him at the back door.
Nice picture!
Thank you Sukanya, and welcome here!
Did you let him in ? He could be a toad with magical powers 🙂
The answer would be a resounding “NO!” Mamta, Marilize does not like co-habiting with amphibians 😀
Ha ha ha ! what about your son ?
Typical little boy, Joubert thinks they’re very cool and very funny that mom’s so scared of them…
And there he was just waiting for a kiss …..
I’m afraid Marilize was not going to oblige, even if it was an enchanted Prince Charming waiting at the back door…
🙂
you may have to kiss a lot of frogs and toads to find that prince…
This particular toad would have had to wait a bit longer for that kiss; Marilize does not take kindly to overly friendly amphibians…
I think he’s smiling. How adorable is this?!
He does look very pleased with himself! Thanks Lois!
This one made me laugh. I love it!
Glad to know we could help brighten your day, Cynthia! Thank you!
I knew you would have something spectacular for this!
So kind of you, thanks Stephanie! Especially considering how brilliant your entry for this challenge is!
Pragtige naby foto, lyk maar grillerig as hy so groot is! Voel of dit n brulpadda kan wees!
Baie dankie Ineke! Die een is n soort skurwepadda, omtrent so groot soos n handpalm.
Dus nie te klein nie! Snaaks genoeg ek wonder of hier paddas is. Nog niks gesien nie. Sal bietjie moet ingaan op saak. Ek weet wel hier is geen slange nie
Die samestelling van New Zealand se dierelewe is absoluut fassinerend.
Stem saam. Dis hoofsaaklik voëllewe. Ek het n bietjie gekyk na paddas hier. Daar is slegs 4 soorte wat aan mekar verwant is. Hul is aangepas by omstandighede. Hier is n skakel http://www.nzfrogs.org/NZ+Frogs/Native+frogs.html
Baie interessant, dankie Ineke!
Amazing close-up! He looks quite friendly. 🙂
Thanks Sylvia! He must be hoping for a kiss!
Ha! 🙂

Thank you very much Stacy!
Sjoe dis mooi!
Baie dankie Tina! As mens fyn genoeg kyk is tot n padda mooi ne?
Ek weet… mens moet dit altyd onthou
He looks so human…
Must be a prince then 😉
Lol!
What gorgeous eyes it has. Wonderful photo.
Thanks Maralee! I wonder what the reason for the intricate patterning on the eye would be?
