That’s a very cool shot. Such intensity in that stare. Nice job.
Thanks again, Cris, for another very flattering comment!
Nice contribution for the challenge. Thanks.

Those eyes!!!
I’d lose in a staring contest, looks like they can see straight into your soul…
great shot!
Thank you Az, and welcome here!
What a great close up. I remember being amazed by these (or their East African near relations) when I was in the Serengeti many years ago.
Thanks Maamej! Africa’s certainly blessed with a large family of these quirky birds.
The iridescence of this beautiful bird is stunning.
Very true Dendymactoodle, they really deserve their “glossy” moniker!
Like everyone else, the intense eye grabbed my attention, but I am also taken by the complementary iridescent blue and turquoise of the plumage. Quite an attractive bird and photo of it.
Thanks very much for stopping by, and the very kind contribution, rxfrazier! Hope we’ll see you around here again soon!
angry bird 🙂
And very determined! Once they’ve got their mind set on something from your picnic basket it’s rather difficult to dissuade them…
Great eyes. Nice capture!
Thanks very much guys!
It’s always a surprise to see all the different shades of colours in these birds when you get up close. Good shot!
And there’s no shortage of opportunities to see them up close, they’re so cheeky at the picnic spots in many of our Parks and reserves that they’ll steal your slaptjips out of your fingers!
Hah and I thought the seagulls were brazen, but that’s pure sass!
Mmm, wil nie in die outjie se pad kom as ek n wurm was nie! Pragtige foto 🙂

The contrast between their plumage and eyes always catches my attention. Thanks for stopping by, Jim!
