   It hurts my eyes to try to discern how many hippos I see. Are there 3?

      Yep, there’s three of them in this photo; part of a larger pod of about twenty or so that call Lake Panic home.

   Marvellous how well adapted they are to wallowing…. nice to see the details of nostril flaps.. the folds and lids of the eyes.

      From the hide at Lake Panic you could make a really detailed study of the hippos as they go about their business seemingly unaware of, or disinterested in, their human spectators.
