With a massive storm looming over the Drakensberg this evening we can look back on another fun-filled day in the great outdoors at Royal Natal.

Such a beautiful spot. It must have been hard to leave to go back home for the lockdown period. Keep safe.

We really had mixed feelings about having to leave early. In the end we decided to leave as soon as possible so that when we return we can make the most of it for as long as possible!

Let us hope that returning will be possible before too long. Keep safe.

Such incredible views! I feel like you probably have described those plateau risers in the background on the top photo, but if so, I have forgotten. Is there a name for that formation or that particular spot?

Those are the foothills of the Drakensberg, our biggest mountain range, as seen from Mahai in the Royal Natal National Park; certainly one of our scenically most splendid reserves (difficult in a country as blessed with beauty as South Africa is!)

Wonderful….thanks for this info. I’m always curious to see if my family who have been to South Africa are familiar with the places you write about ☺️

I hope they are, and just beam with smiles and happy memories when they see a familiar scene! We’re going to need them to visit us again soon.

Fresh air, exercise and sunshine – preferably in a beautiful place. You are doing the right thing.

Thank you Anne. We also thought getting out of the city was the best option in our particular circumstances, having one diabetic and one asthmatic de Wet in the fold.
