That first photo is my favourite, they look so funny from behind (then again so do most of us…) with their saggy bottoms and swinging tails 🙂

Thank you very much, Jude! I also love the very different perspective of elephants from behind 😉

I agree Joanne, they probably are my favourite wild animals and we’re lucky that they are fairly common in many of the Parks and reserves we regularly visit.

Nodeloos om te sê het ek my oë weer uitgehuil, want dit was so mooi.
Pragtige foto’s!

Did anyone try to pass the bulls? Since they were nice enough to move over and leave room. 🙂

Oh no Pat, we followed behind very patiently. We drive on the left side of the road, so obviously these guys were going to play chicken with other road users 😀

Something about the back view of elephants reminds me of baggy pyjamas that need pulling up around the waist.

Poor things! Probably hand-me-down pajamas! 😀

Do they occupy highways as well? 😆

From time to time we do hear snippets on our traffic reports of elephant herds on the highways in the north-east of the country, Maciek! Comical as it is, it is rather dangerous for people and elephants when that happens and they are normally swiftly chased back to the game reserve with helicopters and people making noise on foot.

Of course, roads and animals don’t work well together. Białowieża Forest which I have recently written about saw a wolf killed by a car, just a few days after we left. Such a sad story…

It really is sad Maciek, and amazing how it often is the rarer animals that are otherwise seldom seen, that gets killed on the roads.

Definitely a weighty subject!
How rude, though. Was it something you said?

Perhaps! With ears like those they could have heard our whispered remarks…

They don’t come much heavier than this. 😀

And they’re showing the best angle to appreciate their sizable girth 😀
