Driving around the Kruger National Park, especially along one of the major rivercourses, you’re bound to come across a troop or two of baboons. Watching their behaviour and especially their human-like interactions is extremely entertaining.
We encountered this little group one afternoon along the Shingwedzi River, during our September 2014 visit. While the big male watched, sometimes with what seemed like considerable concern for their well-being, the energetic little ones were clambering into a small tree and jumping down again, over and over again, their happiness clearly written all over their faces…

Brilliant photo’s guys – observing primates is one of our favourite things when they are around. It’s because they displays so many human treats I guess? Never forget a troop patrolling the banks of the Timbavati river in the early morning – the infantry patrolling the high banks while the kids were playing in the dry riverbed. Just absolutely switched on.

Adorable dear de Wets. I’ve always thought their antics were fascinating but you totally managed to capture them in action beautifully. Marks and I have been participating in our Biketoberfest, one of our two motorcycle events in the area so have had no time for posting. We might take a break tomorrow to take a breather. Vanoggend oor RSG vertel hulle mens moet lastige blouapies met ysblokkies en ‘n kettie takel want hulle wikkel tot die dakteels los op soek na insekte. Ken jy dalk ‘n beter plan?

Ai ja Tina, die apies kan lastig wees. Maar ek weet darem nie of ek hulle met ys sal skiet nie, dit kan hulle maklik seerder maak as wat mens dalk bedoel het. As hulle gereeld op dieselfde plek kom sukkel, sal ek n rubberslang daar probeer; ek het al gesien by die piekniekplekke in die Krugerwildtuin, waar die apies regtig kwaaddoen, en soms selfs aggressief is, werk dit nogal as mens net n slang op jou tafel neersit.

Ja iemand het dit ook voorgestel … ek dink ook dit ysblokkies was darem nie bedoel as ‘n hele blokkie op ‘n slag nie. Die probleem is groter oor mense hulle voer … maar jy sal beter weet.
